Even though the McConnellsburg Spartans scored an imposing 57 points on Friday, the Shalom Christian Academy Flames still came out on top. Shalom Christian Academy walked away with a 65-57 win over McConnellsburg. For Shalom Christian Academy, this counts as revenge for the 57-53 defeat McConnellsburg walked away with the last time they faced one another last Thursday.
Several Spartans players turned in solid performances, despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Dom Jefferson, who scored 20 points. Jefferson has been hot recently, having posted two or more steals the last five times he's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Brayden Ramsey, who scored nine points along with six rebounds and three steals.
Shalom Christian Academy's win bumped their record up to 2-3. As for McConnellsburg, their loss dropped their record down to 6-2.
Shalom Christian Academy will wrap up 2023 with a road trip to face off against Fannett Metal at 7:30 p.m. on Saturday. Fannett Metal will have to bring their A-game into this one, as they are staring down a pretty big deficit in the MaxPreps Pennsylvania Rankings (they are ranked 579th, while Shalom Christian Academy is ranked 205th). McConnellsburg will be staying on the road on Saturday to face off against Faith Christian Academy at 6:00 p.m. on December 30th. Faith Christian Academy comes in still looking for their first win of the season.
