Basketball Recap: Jarret Mauvais Key Part of a Team Effort in Owls Win

While FAU High didn't have the best season last year (they finished 1-23), it's starting to look like those struggles are a thing of the past. They took down the Sports Leadership & Management Giants 62-48 on Monday. This was payback for the Owls, who suffered a 70-62 loss the last time these two teams met.

FAU High's win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Jarret Mauvais, who went 5 of 8 on his way to 18 points in addition to six boards and five assists. Mauvais has been hot recently, having posted 18 or more points the last three times he's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Jason Sauveur, who dropped a double-double on 17 points and ten boards.

FAU High is on a roll lately: they've won four of their last five matches, which provided a nice bump to their 6-2 record this season. Those victories came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 61.8 points per game. As for Sports Leadership & Management, they are on a four-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 5-5.

Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. FAU High will head out to take on First Baptist at 4:00 p.m. on Thursday. As for Sports Leadership & Management, they and Lake Worth Christian will face off at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday without much rest having both just played. Lake Worth Christian knows how to get points on the board -- the team has finished with 55 points or more in their past five contests -- so hopefully Sports Leadership & Management likes a good challenge.
