The Swansboro Pirates were the 50-25 winner over the Richlands Wildcats when they last played one another back in January of 2023, but their luck changed this time around. Swansboro fell 44-32 to Richlands on Friday. Swansboro has now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.
Despite the loss, Swansboro had strong showings from Kendall Hackworth, who scored ten points along with seven steals and five rebounds, and Addison King, who scored seven points along with eight rebounds and two steals. King hasn't dropped below eight rebounds for six straight games. The team also got some help courtesy of Grace Jass, who scored two points along with six steals.
Leading Richlands to victory were Jordyn Fisher and Mia Wells. Fisher scored 11 points along with six rebounds and four steals, while Wells dropped a double-double on 19 points and 18 rebounds. That's the first time this season that Wells scored 15 or more points. Another player making a difference was Lenayah Jackson, who scored five points along with eight rebounds.
Swansboro's loss dropped their record down to 4-6. As for Richlands, they have been performing well recently as they've won three of their last four matches, which provided a nice bump to their 8-5 record this season.
Swansboro's road trip will continue as they head out to face East Duplin at 4:30 p.m. on January 15th. East Duplin will be looking to keep their five-game home win streak alive. Richlands will take on Dixon at 6:30 p.m. on Friday. Dixon is coming into the matchup on a five-game losing streak.
