The Smithfield Packers lost against the Grafton Clippers back in January of 2023, and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Thursday. Smithfield was dealt a 79-25 loss at the hands of Grafton. Smithfield was in a tough position after the first half, with the score already sitting at 50-14.
Grafton found their leader in underclassman Taylor Ragland, who dropped a double-double on 32 points and 13 rebounds. The matchup was Ragland's 12th in a row with at least ten points. The team also got some help courtesy of Alonni Wells, who scored 18 points along with seven assists and five rebounds.
Smithfield's loss dropped their record down to 2-9. As for Grafton, they pushed their record up to 11-1 with that win, which was their eighth straight on the road dating back to last season.
Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Smithfield will play host again and welcome Bruton, where tip off is scheduled for 6:00 p.m. on Saturday. As for Grafton, they will be playing at home against Poquoson at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Poquoson is coming into the game hot, having won their last three games.
