Baseball Recap: Reading Has No Trouble Against Berks Catholic

After having lost a blowout in their previous game against Wyomissing, Reading was happy to have turned things around on Tuesday. They were the clear victors by a 12-2 margin over the Berks Catholic Blue Jays. The result was nothing new for the Red KNights, who have now won seven contests by six runs or more so far this season.

Jeury Vargas and Janser Paredes did most of the damage at the plate: Vargas got on base in all four of his plate appearances with one home run, two runs, and two RBI, while Paredes went 3-for-5 with four RBI, two runs, and two doubles. Those two runs gave Vargas a new career-high. Joset Pagan was another key player, going 1-for-3 with two RBI, one run, and one double.

They weren't the only ones making solid contact: Reading kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 11 hits. They are a perfect 3-0 when they post 11 or more hits.

Reading's win ended a three-game drought at home and bumped them up to 9-11. As for Berks Catholic, the loss snapped their winning streak at eight games and leaves them with a 13-5 record.

Reading does not have any more games scheduled as of now. As for Berks Catholic, they will be playing at home against Fleetwood at 4:00 p.m. on Monday.
