Spokane hasn't had much luck against Clever recently, but that could start to change on Wednesday. The Owls will look to defend their home field against the Blue Jays at 5:00 p.m. Spokane is coming into the game hot, having won their last three games.
While Spokane's win against Wheaton wasn't quite the blowout it was the last time the pair played, they still came out on top. The Owls skirted past the Bulldogs 7-5.
Karsyn Schrock was a major factor while hitting and pitching. On the mound, she pitched 5.1 innings while giving up just one earned (and one unearned) run off eight hits. Schrock was also solid in the batter's box, scoring two runs while going 2-for-3.
In other batting news, Lilly Carr was incredible, going 2-for-3 with four RBI, two doubles, and one stolen base. Those four RBI gave her a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Addie Gimlim, who scored a run and stole three bases while going 1-for-4.
Meanwhile, Clever made easy work of Hollister on Tuesday and carried off a 17-2 victory. The result was nothing new for the Blue Jays, who have now won six matchups by six runs or more so far this season.
Like Spokane, Clever also got a great game from a two-way player: Ava Mittag. She looked comfortable on the mound, tossing four innings while giving up just two earned runs off three hits. Mittag has been consistent recently: she hasn't tossed less than five strikeouts in three consecutive appearances. She was also big at the plate, scoring two runs and stealing a base while going 3-for-4.
In other batting news, Clever got a massive performance out of Izabel Hudak, who went 3-for-4 with three runs, three RBI, and one triple. Mirandah Branson was another key player, scoring three runs while going 3-for-3.
Clever hit smart and finished the game with only one strikeout. The team has now struck out at least four batters in three consecutive contests.
Clever is on a roll lately: they've won five of their last six games. That's provided a nice bump to their 6-3 record this season. The wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 12.2 runs over those games. As for Spokane, their victory bumped their record up to 5-6.
Spokane suffered a grim 12-4 defeat to Clever in their previous meeting back in April of 2024. Will the Owls have more luck at home instead of on the road? Check back here after the action for a full breakdown and analysis of the contest.
