Everything went their way against John Paul the Great Academy as Word of God Academy made off with a 46-26 win. The score was close at the half, but Word of God Academy pulled away in the second half with 27 points.
Word of God Academy's win was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Taj Bell, who almost dropped a double-double on 15 points and nine rebounds. Bell hasn't dropped below nine rebounds for four straight games. The team also got some help courtesy of TJ DiaPaul, who scored 11 points along with eight rebounds.
When it comes to explaining why John Paul the Great Academy lost, one person who can't be blamed is Bobby Odinet. Despite the final result, he almost dropped a double-double on ten points and nine rebounds. Another player making a difference was Ezra Moutin, who scored six points.
The win (which was Word of God Academy's third in a row) raised their record to 12-6. As for John Paul the Great Academy, their loss dropped their record down to 5-9.
Word of God Academy will head out on the road to face off against the at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Hopefully Shreveport HomeSchool Sports focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up eight on Monday. As for John Paul the Great Academy, they will look to defend their home court on Monday against the Eagles at 7:00 p.m. The matchup should be an exciting one, as these teams are closely ranked in Louisiana (First Baptist Christian is ranked 273rd, while the Guardians are ranked 279th).
