Meanwhile, Michigan City pushed their score all the way to 63 on Friday, but even that wasn't enough to win. They were just a bucket shy of victory and fell 64-63 to Lake Central. While losing is never fun, Michigan City can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Indiana basketball rankings (they are ranked 111th, while Lake Central is ranked 27th).
Valparaiso's loss ended a ten-game streak of wins at home and dropped them to 16-5. As for Michigan City, their defeat dropped their record down to 10-9.
Valparaiso came up short against Michigan City in their previous matchup back in January of 2023, falling 63-54. Thankfully for Valparaiso, Jamie Hodges jr. (who scored 27 points) won't be suiting up this time. Will that be enough to change the final result? There's only one way to find out.
