Fairmont Senior hasn't had much luck against Bridgeport recently, but that could start to change on Tuesday. The Polar Bears will head out to face off against the Indians at 5:00 p.m. Fairmont Senior will be looking to extend their current seven-game winning streak.
Fairmont Senior is headed in fresh off scoring the most runs they have all season. They blew past Lewis County 24-5 on Monday. Considering the Polar Bears have won seven games by more than nine runs this season, Monday's blowout was nothing new.
Bigelow Trevor made a splash no matter where he played. On the mound, he struck out six batters over 2.2 innings while giving up just one earned run but no hits. He has been consistent recently: he hasn't given up more than two hits in four consecutive appearances. He was also big at the plate, going 2-for-3 with three RBI.
In other batting news, Cam Peschl was a standout: he went 4-for-6 with one home run, five RBI, and one triple. That's the most RBI he has posted since back in April of 2024. Another player making a difference was Blake Straight, who got on base in all five of his plate appearances with four runs, one stolen base, and two RBI.
Fairmont Senior always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .702. That's the best OBP they've posted all season.
Meanwhile, Bridgeport fell victim to Philip Barbour and their airtight pitching crew on Friday. They lost 7-0 to the Colts. The Indians' defeat signaled the end of their four-game winning streak.
Fairmont Senior pushed their record up to 14-2 with the win, which was their seventh straight on the road. The road victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 14.6 runs over those games. As for Bridgeport, their loss was their first in the region, dropping their region record down to 7-1 and their overall record down to 14-6.
Fairmont Senior came up short against Bridgeport in their previous matchup back in April of 2024, falling 14-11. Can the Polar Bears avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
