There's no place like home for the Salpointe Catholic Lancers, who bounced back after a tough loss on the road on Tuesday. They walked away with a 51-39 victory over Canyon del Oro on Wednesday. That result was just more of the same for these two, as Salpointe Catholic also won the last time the pair played back in January of 2023.
Salpointe Catholic had a senior duo take command as Bobby Smith scored 13 points along with nine rebounds and Antonio Amador scored 15 points. That's the first time this season that Amador scored 15 or more points. Joey Castillo was another key contributor, scoring eight points along with five rebounds.
Salpointe Catholic's win was their fifth straight at home dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 11-6. Those good results were due in large part to their offensive dominance across that stretch, as they averaged 64.0 points per game. As for Canyon del Oro, their defeat dropped their record down to 15-4.
Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Salpointe Catholic won't have much time to rest: their next matchup is against Pueblo at 7:00 p.m. on January 11th. Pueblo is coming into the game on a four-game losing streak. Canyon del Oro won't have much time to rest: their next contest is against Sahuaro at 7:00 p.m. on January 11th. That game will pit two of the most dominant guards against one another: Cisco Llamas and Will Dixion.
