The Santa Cruz Valley Dust Devils's recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Thursday after their fourth straight loss. They were outmatched by Horizon Honors at home and fell 51-12. Santa Cruz Valley has not had much luck with Horizon Honors recently, as the team's come up short the last three times they've met.
Horizon Honors found their leader in underclassman Audriana Anglada, who scored 16 points along with two steals. The team also got some help courtesy of Ana Gracia, who scored nine points along with five rebounds and three steals.
Santa Cruz Valley bumped their record down to 2-8 with that loss, which was their third straight at home. As for Horizon Honors, the victory (which was their third in a row) raised their record to 13-5.
Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Santa Cruz Valley will take on Sequoia Pathway Academy at 5:30 p.m. on Tuesday. The matchup should be an exciting one, as these teams are ranked near one another in Arizona (Sequoia Pathway Academy is ranked 290th, while Santa Cruz Valley is ranked 292nd). Horizon Honors on the road again on Tuesday and play against Tempe Prep at 5:30 p.m. on January 16th.
