You can't lose the game if you win every quarter, and that was precisely the Triton Central Tigers's strategy against the Eastern Hancock Royals on Saturday. Triton Central put the hurt on the Royals with a sharp 48-28 victory. The win was familiar territory for Triton Central who now have three in a row.
Triton Central found their leader in underclassman Eli Sego, who scored 18 points along with six rebounds and two steals. That makes it three consecutive games in which Sego has scored at least a third of Triton Central's points. Silas Blair was another key contributor, scoring 11 points along with two steals.
Eastern Hancock's defeat came despite a true team effort from the offense, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Kayden Ruble, who scored 13 points along with five rebounds and two blocks. Another player making a difference was Luke Morris, who scored three points.
Triton Central has been performing incredibly well recently as they've won six of their last seven games, which provided a nice bump to their 13-4 record this season. As for Eastern Hancock, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 7-8.
Triton Central will head out on the road to take on the Warriors at 7:30 p.m. on Thursday. As for Eastern Hancock, they will look to defend their home court on Saturday against the Blackhawks at 1:30 p.m. Hopefully Cowan focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 12 on Thursday.
