Sandia Prep hasn't had much luck against New Mexico Military Institute recently, but that could start to change on Thursday. The Sundevils will face off against the Colts at 7:00 p.m. Both squads will be entering this one on the heels of a big victory.
Sandia Prep is on a roll after a high-stakes playoff matchup on Saturday. They never let Cobre get on the board and left with a 21-0 win. The victory was nothing new for the Sundevils as they're now sitting on five straight.

Jonas Mahboub was incredible, going 3-for-4 with five RBI, three runs, and one triple. Those three hits gave him a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Landon Hardcastle, who got on base in four of his five plate appearances with four runs, two RBI, and one double.
Sandia Prep was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .500. That was just more of the same: they've now posted a batting average of .333 or higher in five consecutive matchups.
Meanwhile, New Mexico Military Institute had already won nine in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 7.7 runs) and they went ahead and made it ten last Saturday. They blew past the Warriors 11-5.
The team relied heavily on Tegin Maloney, who went a perfect 2-for-2 with two runs and one RBI. Noah Martinez was another key player, going 1-for-2 with one stolen base, one run, and one RBI.
New Mexico Military Institute's win was their fifth straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 19-6. The road victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 2.6 runs on average over those games. As for Sandia Prep, their record is now 15-12.
Thursday's contest might come down to which pitcher can control the ball better. Sandia Prep has hit smart this season, having averaged an OBP of .471. However, it's not like New Mexico Military Institute struggles in that department as they've averaged .465. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.
Sandia Prep might still be hurting after the 20-1 defeat they got from New Mexico Military Institute in their previous matchup back in April. Can the Sundevils avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
