There's no place like home for Wingate, who bounced back after a loss on the road last Wednesday. Everything went their way against the Zuni Thunderbirds on Friday as the Wingate Bears made off with a 71-47 win. The Bears have made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won seven matchups by 20 points or more this season.

Despite the loss, Zuni had strong showings from Deron Lastyano, who almost dropped a double-double with 16 points and nine boards, and Ty'Shawn Nieto, who dropped a double-double with 12 points and 22 rebounds. Lastyano also grabbed five steals, which is notable because Zuni is 5-1 when he posts at least five steals, but 6-9 otherwise. Another player making a difference was Mason Bobelu, who posted six points and six boards.

Wingate is on a roll lately: they've won three of their last four games, which provided a massive bump to their 10-12 record this season. The wins came thanks in part to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 61.0 points over those games. As for Zuni, they dropped their record down to 11-10 with the defeat, which was their fifth straight on the road.

Wingate has already played their next contest, a 56-50 victory against Newcomb on the 12th. As for Zuni, they also didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next match, a 77-42 loss against Navajo Prep on the 12th.
