The Sultana Sultans scored the most points they've had all season to find success on Friday. They really took it to Excelsior Charter for the full four quarters, racking up a 81-37 victory on the road. That looming 81-37 mark stands out as the most commanding margin for Sultana yet this season.
Leading Sultana to victory were Sergio Moreno and Codey Root. Moreno dropped a double-double on 11 points and ten rebounds, while Root scored 14 points along with six rebounds and four steals. Root continues to roll, besting his previous point total in each of the last three games he's played. Another player making a difference was Joe Uribe, who scored seven points along with five rebounds.
The win makes it two in a row for Sultana and bumps their season record up to 5-11. As for Excelsior Charter, they have traveled a rocky road recently, as they've lost three of their last four contests, which put a noticeable dent in their 7-9 record this season.
Sultana and Burroughs will face off at 6:00 p.m. on January 3, 2024 without much rest after finishing up games yesterday. Burroughs is hoping to put an end to a three-game streak of away losses. As for Excelsior Charter, they will head out on the road to face off against Academy of Careers & Exploration at 7:00 p.m. on Friday.
