Two dominant signal callers in Caleb Cook and Tyler Vargas are getting ready to go toe-to-toe. The New Home Leopards will head out on the road to face off against the Plains Cowboys at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. The teams are on pretty different trajectories at the moment (New Home has seven straight wins, Plains has five straight losses), but none of that matters once you're on the field.
Last Friday, New Home got themselves on the board against Smyer, but Smyer never followed suit. They took their match at home with ease, bagging a 62-0 win over the Bobcats. The result was nothing new for New Home, who have now won six contests by 21 points or more so far this season.
Meanwhile, Plains suffered a rough 28-6 defeat at the hands of Seagraves on Thursday.
New Home's win was their fourth straight at home, bumping their overall record up to 7-0. That said, the team wasn't facing the toughest opposition over that stretch, as it included 1-6 Smyer and 1-6 Hale Center (their opponents had an average overall winning percentage of 39.3% over those games). As for Plains, their loss dropped their record down to 1-5.
Everything came up roses for New Home against Plains in their previous matchup back in October of 2022 as the squad secured a 50-0 victory. The rematch might be a little tougher for New Home since the squad won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
