On Friday, The St. Mary Tigers got themselves on the board against the Montgomery Tigers, but the Montgomery Tigers never followed suit. They blew past the Tigers, posting a 49-0 win on the road. Given St. Mary's advantage in MaxPreps' Louisiana football rankings (they are ranked 112th, while Montgomery is ranked 255th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Among those leading the charge was Mixon Bankston, who threw for 208 yards and two touchdowns while completing 100% of his passes, and also punched in a touchdown on the ground. Nathan Slaughter made the highlight reel by snagging an interception and taking it all the way to the house.
St. Mary's defense stepped up as well, laying out the QB four times. Leading the way was Drake Griffin and his three sacks.
St. Mary's victory bumped their record up to 6-1. As for Montgomery, their loss dropped their record down to 4-4.
St. Mary does not have any more games scheduled as of now. Montgomery will be playing in front of their home fans against Westminster Christian Academy at 7:00 p.m. on Friday.
