Monday just wasn't the day for Garfield's offense. They came up short against Ellet on Monday, falling 26-0. The Rams haven't had much luck with the Orangement recently, as the team has come up short the last eight times they've met.
For Ellet's part, Isaiah Hopkins made a big impact while hitting and pitching. He looked comfortable on the mound, keeping things locked down with no earned runs or hits while striking out eight over five innings pitched. Those eight strikeouts gave Hopkins a new career-high. He was also stellar in the batter's box, going 2-for-3 with three runs, three RBI, and one stolen base. That stolen base was his first of the season.
In other batting news, Cullen McKeel was a standout: he got on base in all four of his plate appearances with three stolen bases, four runs, and two RBI. That's the most RBI he has posted since back in April of 2025. The team also got some help courtesy of Jaden West, who went a perfect 3-for-3 with one home run, three RBI, and two runs.
Ellet kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 17 hits. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Garfield didn't got any.
Garfield's defeat dropped their record down to 0-5. As for Ellet, their win ended an eight-game drought on the road dating back to last season and puts them at 2-4.
The pitchers for both teams better look sharp on Tuesday as neither team is afraid to steal. Garfield has been swiping bases left and right this season, having averaged 8.4 stolen bases per game. However, it's not like Ellet struggles in that department as they've been averaging 4.5 stolen bases. The only question left is which team can snag more.
