Volleyball Recap: Parker Stiles Leads a Balanced Effort to Beat Rio Mesa

Buena won the last time they faced Rio Mesa, and Carrie C did her part to make sure it happened again. The Bulldogs put the hurt on the Spartans with a sharp 3-0 win on Tuesday thanks in part to C, who had 21 digs and one assist. With that strong performance, she is now averaging an impressive 10.2 digs per game.

While Buena might've won, it sure wasn't easy: Rio Mesa scored at least 20 points in every set they played. The final score came out to 25-22, 25-20, 26-24.

Buena's win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Parker Stiles, who had ten digs. That's the most digs Stiles has posted since back in August.

The victory got Buena back to even at 5-5. As for Rio Mesa, their defeat was their fourth straight on the road, which dropped their record down to 6-15.

We've got plenty of inter-league action coming up soon. Buena will challenge rival Oxnard at 6:30 p.m. on Thursday. Meanwhile, Rio Mesa is set to face off against their familiar foe Ventura at 6:00 p.m. on Thursday.
