Zymeia Taliaferro was cooking despite her team's loss, going 2-for-3 with two runs, one triple, and one stolen base. Another player making a difference was Addy Stokes, who went a perfect 2-for-2 with one stolen base and one RBI.
Meanwhile, Smithfield can bid farewell to their four-game losing streak thanks to their game on Friday. They blew past Lafayette 26-5. Considering the Packers have won five matchups by more than nine runs this season, Friday's blowout was nothing new.
Grace Dodson was incredible, getting on base in all five of her plate appearances with one home run, six RBI, and four runs. Those six RBI gave her a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Makayla Hall, who went 3-for-4 with four runs, three RBI, and one double.
Smithfield hit smart and finished the game with only two strikeouts. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Lafayette struck out eight times.
Smithfield's win bumped their record up to 7-5. As for Bruton, their defeat dropped their record down to 1-10.
