Carson and San Pedro are an even 5-5 against one another since April of 2019, but likely not for long. Carson will take on San Pedro at 3:15 p.m. on Thursday. Carson's pitching crew has only allowed 2.2 runs per game this season, so San Pedro's hitters will have their work cut out for them.
Carson is headed in fresh off scoring the most runs they have all season. They were the clear victors by a 20-0 margin over Rancho Dominguez on Thursday. Considering the Colts have won eight contests by more than five runs this season, Thursday's blowout was nothing new.
Giselle Pantoja made a splash no matter where she played. On the mound, she struck out seven batters over three innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit (and not a single walk). That's the fewest hits she has allowed since back in May of 2024. She was also solid in the batter's box, scoring a run while going 2-for-3.
In other pitching news, Isabella Campos looked comfortable as she tossed two innings while giving up no earned runs or hits. She has been consistent : she hasn't given up more than two walks any time she's pitched this season.
Back at the plate, Anaiyah Popoalii was a standout: she went a perfect 2-for-2 with one home run, two runs, and two RBI. Those two RBI gave her a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Ashannalee Titialii, who got on base in three of her four plate appearances with one home run and two runs.
Meanwhile, San Pedro came tearing into Saturday's matchup with three straight wins (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 8 runs), and they left with even more momentum. They came within a single run of losing the streak, but they secured a 3-2 W against the Saxons.
Caroline Baker spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered just two earned runs on seven hits.
At the plate, Brianna Rodela and Dahlia Davila did most of the damage at the plate: Rodela scored a run and stole a base while going 2-for-4, while Davila scored two runs while going 2-for-3. That stolen base was Rodela's first of the season.
Carson pushed their record up to 12-0-1 with the victory, which was their seventh straight on the road dating back to last season. Those wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 1.1 runs on average over those games. As for San Pedro, their record now sits at 7-2.
Everything went Carson's way against San Pedro when the teams last played back in April of 2024, as Carson made off with an 8-2 victory. Will Carson repeat their success, or does San Pedro has a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
