The Brunswick Pirates had already won two in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 33 points), and they went ahead and made it three on Friday. They put the hurt on South Effingham with a sharp 38-14 win. The result was nothing new for Brunswick, who have now won four games by 24 points or more so far this season.
Brunswick got their win on the backs of several key players, but it was Jamarious Towns out in front who rushed for 162 yards and a touchdown on only ten carries. Grant Moore was another key contributor, throwing for 234 yards and two touchdowns while picking up 10.6 yards per attempt.
South Effingham's lost despite a true team effort on the offense, the best among them being Dominic Martell, who picked up 97 receiving yards and a touchdown.
Brunswick's win was their third straight at home, bumping their overall record up to 5-2. That said, the team wasn't facing the toughest opposition over that stretch, as it included 0-9 Islands and 2-7 Grovetown (their opponents had an average overall winning percentage of 28.2% over those games). As for South Effingham, their defeat dropped their record down to 5-3.
Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Brunswick will take on Evans at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. Evans will have to bring their A-game into this one, as they are staring down a pretty big deficit in the MaxPreps Georgia Rankings (they are ranked 227th, while Brunswick is ranked 73rd). As for South Effingham, they will be playing at home against Grovetown at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. Grovetown is coming into the matchup on a five-game losing streak.
