The Baptist Hill Bobcats's recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Thursday after their third straight loss. They were outmatched by Military Magnet Academy at home and fell 98-23. Baptist Hill was in a tough position after the first half, with the score already sitting at 57-6.
Baptist Hill's loss came despite strong showings from Ty'Asia Wiggins and JahNaree Heyward. Wiggins scored eight points, while Heyward scored four points along with four steals.
Perhaps unsurprisingly given the score, Baptist Hill struggled to work together and finished the game with only two assists. They were crushed by their opponents in that department as Military Magnet Academy racked up 26 assists.
Military Magnet Academy's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Dream Watson led the charge by dropping a double-double on 11 points and 12 assists. Watson is on a roll when it comes to steals, as she's now grabbed two or more in the last 14 games she's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Lauren Willis, who dropped a double-double on 18 points and 11 rebounds.
Baptist Hill has traveled a rocky road recently having lost five of their last six matches, which put a noticeable dent in their 5-14 record this season. As for Military Magnet Academy, the win (which was their sixth in a row) raised their record to 19-6.
Baptist Hill does not have any more games scheduled as of now. As for Military Magnet Academy, they will be playing in front of their home fans against Johnsonville at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. The timing is sure in Military Magnet Academy's favor as the squad sits on seven straight wins at home while Johnsonville has been banged up by nine consecutive losses on the road.
