Sylmar and Downtown Magnets squared off in some playoff action  on Saturday, but Sylmar had to settle for second. They took a hard  78-59 fall against the Downtown Magnets Suns. The Spartans' loss signaled the end of their five-game winning streak.

 Several Spartans players turned in solid performances despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was   Tim Tanner, who  posted 16 points and eight  boards. Those  eight  rebounds gave  Tanner a new career-high.  Andrew Galvez was another key player,  putting up 18  points and five  boards.
 Downtown Magnets found their leader in sophomore  Patrick Lei, who  dropped  a double-double with 26 points and 17  rebounds. Lei continues to improve, besting his previous point total in each of the last four games he's  played. Another player making a difference was  Justin Huang, who  scored 16  points.
Sylmar's defeat dropped their record down to 11-19. As for Downtown Magnets, they have  been performing  incredibly well recently as they've  won 18 of their last 20 contests. That's provided a nice bump to their 24-7 record  this season.
 Sylmar does not have any more games scheduled as of now. As for Downtown Magnets, they will head out on the road to  square off against  Sierra Vista  at 7:00  p.m.  on Tuesday. Downtown Magnets has been getting the ball to fall more lately as they've increased their point totals each of their last four games.
