Mountain Ridge's pitching crew heads into the match hoping to repeat the dominance they displayed on Thursday. They blew past Corner Canyon 13-0. The Sentinels might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won 12 contests by seven runs or more this season.
Red Brooks was a major factor while hitting and pitching. On the mound, she didn't allow a single earned run while striking out seven over five innings pitched. She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't given up more than one earned run in four consecutive appearances. She was also stellar in the batter's box, going 2-for-3 with one home run, three RBI, and one triple. That triple marked the first that she has hit this season.
In other batting news, Mountain Ridge got a massive performance out of Kelli Christiansen, who went a perfect 2-for-2 with one home run, two runs, and two RBI. Another player making a difference was Chloe Tycksen, who went 2-for-3 with two stolen bases, two runs, and one triple.
Mountain Ridge always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .514. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Corner Canyon only posted an OBP of .300.
Meanwhile, Bingham faced Herriman in a battle between two of the state's top teams on Thursday. The Miners fell just short of the Mustangs by a score of 2-1. The Miners' loss signaled the end of their four-game winning streak.
Mountain Ridge's victory was their fifth straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 18-1. Those road wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 13.2 runs over those games. As for Bingham, their defeat dropped their record down to 14-8-2.
Mountain Ridge suffered a grim 10-1 defeat to Bingham when the teams last played back in April of 2024. Can the Sentinels avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
