The McConnellsburg Spartans will head out on the road to square off against Fannett Metal at 6:00 p.m. on Friday. McConnellsburg will be looking to extend their current nine-game winning streak.
McConnellsburg put the finishing touches on their seventh blowout victory of the season on Wednesday. They were the clear victor by a 66-42 margin over Claysburg-Kimmel. The contest was pretty much decided by the half, when the score had already reached 32-11.
Drew Mellott continued his habit of posting crazy stat lines, going 7 for 11 from beyond the arc en route to 25 points and 3 assists. As a matter of fact, that's the most points he has scored all season. Another player making a difference was Dom Jefferson, who scored 13 points along with seven rebounds and five steals.
Meanwhile, Fannett Metal beat the 62-49 on Wednesday.
McConnellsburg pushed their record up to 15-2 with that win, which was their eighth straight on the road dating back to last season. Those victories were due in large part to their offensive dominance across that stretch, as they averaged 67.1 points per game. As for Fannett Metal, they now have a winning record of 8-7.
McConnellsburg strolled past the in their previous meeting back in January of 2023 by a score of 59-41. Does McConnellsburg have another victory up their sleeve, or will the turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
