Shiprock had to kick off their season with an away game, and unfortunately wound up with a long bus ride home. They were completely outmatched, falling 12-60 to Newcomb. Shiprock was given a dose of their own medicine in this game as Newcomb apparently hadn't forgotten their loss from the last time the teams met up.
The defeat started Shiprock out at 0-1 for the season. The win bumped Newcomb's record up to 2-0.
Shiprock will be defending their home turf for the first time next week when they go up against Navajo Prep at 7:00 PM. Neither team wants a repeat from their last game since each was dealt a considerable loss. As for Newcomb, they will face off against Ignacio.
