Bridgeport hasn't had much luck against Catholic Central recently, but that could start to change on Thursday. The Bulldogs will be playing at home against the Crusaders at 5:00 p.m. The teams are on pretty different trajectories at the moment (Bridgeport has three straight victories, Catholic Central has five straight losses), but none of that matters once you're on the field.
Bridgeport is headed in fresh off scoring the most runs they have all season. They never let Paden City get on the board and left with a 24-0 win on Wednesday. With that victory, the Bulldogs brought their scoring average up to 7.4 runs per game.

JAKI THREET was a major factor while hitting and pitching. He kept things locked down with no earned runs or hits while striking out 11 over five innings pitched. Those 11 strikeouts gave him a new career-high. He was also stellar in the batter's box, going 2-for-3 with one home run, five RBI, and three runs.
In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Connor Nelson, who went a perfect 4-for-4 with four runs, one stolen base, and two RBI. Roman Sauvageot was another key player, going 1-for-2 with two runs, one stolen base, and two RBI.
Bridgeport always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .714. That's the best OBP they've posted all season.
Bishop Rosecrans hit Catholic Central with a four-run sixth inning on Monday, which goes a long way in explaining the final result. The Crusaders came up short against the Bishops, falling 12-5.
Mason Meeks made the most of his time at bat despite the final result and went 4-for-5 with one run, one double, and one RBI. The team also got some help courtesy of Matthew Jones, who went 2-for-4 with one stolen base, one run, and one double.
Bridgeport now has a winning record of 4-3. As for Catholic Central, their defeat dropped their record down to 2-5.
Catholic Central's pitching crew has a crucial task ahead of them: Bridgeport hasn't had any issues making contact this season, having earned a batting average of .349. It's a different story for Catholic Central, though, as they've only averaged .210. Will they be able to contain Bridgeport's hitters?
Bridgeport might still be hurting after the 11-1 loss they got from Catholic Central in their previous matchup back in May of 2024. Can the Bulldogs avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
