The Gayville-Volin Raiders lost against the Centerville Tornadoes back in December of 2022, and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Tuesday. Gayville-Volin might have been a little too into the holiday spirit, gifting Centerville an easy 55-34 win. Gayville-Volin has not had much luck with Centerville recently, as the team's come up short the last five times they've met.
Gayville-Volin's loss came despite strong showings from Maia Achen and Taylor Hoxeng. Achen scored 15 points along with nine rebounds, while Hoxeng scored 12 points. That's the first time this season that Achen scored 15 or more points.
Gayville-Volin's loss dropped their record down to 2-2. As for Centerville, they pushed their record up to 5-0 with that win, which was their 12th straight at home dating back to last season.
Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Gayville-Volin will be home for the holidays to greet Canistota at 5:15 p.m. on Thursday. The matchup should be an exciting one, as these teams are ranked near one another in South Dakota (Canistota is ranked 41st, while Gayville-Volin is ranked 56th). As for Centerville, they will play host again and welcome Andes Central/Dakota Christian, where tip off is scheduled for 7:30 p.m. on Thursday.
