The Joliet West Tigers will head out on the road to face off against the Plainfield Central Wildcats at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Both teams are coming into the match red-hot, with Joliet West sitting on six straight wins and Plainfield Central on three.
Last Friday, Joliet West narrowly escaped with a win as the squad sidled past Plainfield East 17-15. Given Joliet West's advantage in MaxPreps' Illinois football rankings (they are ranked 107th, while Plainfield East is ranked 260th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Meanwhile, Plainfield Central sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with a 23-20 win over Plainfield South on Friday.
Joliet West's win was their seventh straight at home (dating back to last season), bumping their overall record up to 7-1. That said, the team wasn't facing the toughest opposition over that stretch, as it included 0-8 Joliet Central and 1-8 Romeoville (their opponents had an average overall winning percentage of 24.2% over those games). As for Plainfield Central, their victory on Friday bumped their record up to 4-4.
Joliet West came up short against Plainfield Central in their previous matchup back in September of 2022, falling 30-22. Can Joliet West avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
