Altoona-Midway has enjoyed a three-game homestand but will soon have to dust off their road jerseys. The Altoona-Midway Jets and the Southeast Lancers will face off at 5:00 p.m. on January 23rd without much rest after finishing up games yesterday. Hopefully Altoona-Midway focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 13 on Friday.
Altoona-Midway scored the most points they've had all season to find success. They breezed by Chetopa at home to the tune of 69-31. The match was pretty much decided by the half, when the score had already reached 40-15.
William Stackhouse continued his habit of posting crazy stat lines, scoring 24 points along with eight rebounds and three steals. That makes it three consecutive games in which he has scored at least a third of Altoona-Midway's points. Another player making a difference was Jacob Meigs, who scored 11 points along with six rebounds and five assists.
Meanwhile, Southeast's recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Saturday after their third straight loss. Their tough 61-40 loss to Neodesha might stick with them for a while. Southeast was in a tough position after the first half, with the score already sitting at 44-12.
Altoona-Midway's victory was their fifth straight at home, which pushed their record up to 8-4. Those victories were due in large part to their offensive dominance across that stretch, as they averaged 55.6 points per game. As for Southeast, they have fallen quite a ways from their 15-5 record last season and are now at 3-7.
Altoona-Midway was taken down by Southeast 79-47 when the teams last played back in February of 2023. Can Altoona-Midway avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
