The Oxford Prep Griffins's recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Tuesday after their fifth straight loss. They took a 46-41 hit to the loss column at the hands of Eno River. Oxford Prep was given a dose of their own medicine in this game as Eno River apparently hadn't forgotten their defeat the last time these teams played back in February of 2023.
It was another big night for Madison Hobbs, who dropped a double-double on 17 points and 21 rebounds for Eno River. Hobbs also posted two blocks for the first time this season. Another player making a difference was Sadie Olson, who scored 12 points along with six assists and two steals.
Oxford Prep has not been sharp recently, as they've lost six of their last eight contests, which put a noticeable dent in their 5-9 record this season. As for Eno River, the victory (which was their third in a row) raised their record to 8-5.
Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Oxford Prep will take on Henderson Collegiate at 6:00 p.m. on Friday. Henderson Collegiate comes in on a streak of failing to score more than 11 points in their last four games, a trend the team is of course eager to reverse. As for Eno River, they will head out on the road to face off against Vance Charter at 6:00 p.m. on Friday.
