Two dominant players in Austin Joyner and Kameron Taylor are getting ready to go toe-to-toe. The Hunt Warriors will be playing at home against the West Johnston Wildcats at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. Expect the scorekeeper to be kept busy: if their previous games are any indication, the two teams will really light up the scoreboard.
Last Thursday, Hunt didn't have too much trouble with Southern Wayne at home as they won 68-52. The win made it back-to-back wins for Hunt.
Hunt found their leader in underclassman Joyner, who scored 20 points. Drew Pittman was another key contributor, scoring 12 points.
Even though West Johnston has not done well against C.B. Aycock recently (they were 2-7 in their previous nine matchups), they didn't let the past get in their way on Tuesday. West Johnston walked away with a 76-65 victory over C.B. Aycock.
It was another big night for Taylor, who went 6 for 12 from beyond the arc en route to 34 points and 2 assists. As a matter of fact, that's the most points he has scored all season. Another player making a difference was Caden Horay, who scored 14 points along with six assists and five rebounds.
Hunt is on a roll lately: they've won three of their last four contests, which provided a nice bump to their 9-4 record this season. As for West Johnston, their victory bumped their record up to 7-8.
Hunt came up short against West Johnston in their previous matchup back in February of 2023, falling 74-70. Thankfully for Hunt, Caleb Gilmore (who dropped a double-double on 24 points and 17 rebounds) won't be suiting up this time. Will that be enough to change the final result?
