The Carey Panthers suffered their biggest defeat yet this season on Monday. They were the victim of a tough 62-40 loss at the hands of Butte County. Carey was in a tough position after the first half, with the score already sitting at 33-13.
Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Butte County to victory, but perhaps none more so than Brody Westergard, who scored 17 points. Another player making a difference was Braxton Gamett, who scored 14 points along with seven rebounds.
This is the second loss in a row for Carey and nudges their season record down to 6-6. As for Butte County, the victory (which was their fifth in a row) raised their record to 10-2.
Carey will be playing in front of their home fans against Hansen at 7:30 p.m. on Wednesday. Hansen is coming into the matchup on a three-game losing streak. As for Butte County, they will head out on the road to square off against West Jefferson at 12:00 p.m. on Wednesday. West Jefferson will have to bring their A-game into this one, as they are staring down a pretty big deficit in the MaxPreps Idaho Rankings (they are ranked 128th, while Butte County is ranked 35th).
