Basketball Recap: Nyah Hubbard Leads a Balanced Attack to Beat Eastmoor Academy

Walnut Ridge lost to Eastmoor Academy back in January, but they didn't allow them the same satisfaction on Friday. The Walnut Ridge Scots came out on top against the Eastmoor Academy Warriors by a score of 50-41. The win made it back-to-back victories for the Scots.

Walnut Ridge's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Nyah Hubbard led the charge by dropping a double-double on 17 points and 14 rebounds. The contest was Hubbard's third in a row with at least ten points. Another player making a difference was Nakushe Alsop, who posted eight points in addition to eight assists and eight steals.

Walnut Ridge smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 27 offensive boards. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least 16 offensive boards in three consecutive matchups.

Walnut Ridge has been performing well recently as they've won four of their last five games, which provided a nice bump to their 4-3 record this season. Those victories came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 58.6 points per game. As for Eastmoor Academy, they now have a losing record at 3-4.

Walnut Ridge and Eastmoor Academy's offenses will be put to the test in their next games. Walnut Ridge and South (who has only given up 27.4 points per game) will meet at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Walnut Ridge is strutting in with some offensive muscle as they've averaged 54.5 points per game this season. Meanwhile, Eastmoor Academy and Africentric Early College (who has only given up 24.33 points per game) will meet at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
