The Ramona Rams will head out on the road to square off against the Arlington Lions at 3:15 p.m. on Monday. Ramona's pitching crew has only allowed 3.4 runs per game this season, so Arlington's hitters will have their work cut out for them.
Ramona made up a huge gap compared to their last game against Canyon Springs, but they still couldn't quite topple them. Ramona never let Canyon Springs get on the board and left with a 9-0 win on Friday. Considering the Rams have won three matches by more than five runs this season, Friday's blowout was nothing new.
Kaytlin Stephens made a splash while hitting and pitching. On the mound, she didn't allow a single earned run and allowed only two hits while striking out 11 over seven innings pitched. That's the most strikeouts she has posted since back in April of 2024. She was also solid in the batter's box, scoring a run while going 1-for-3.

In other batting news, Emily Gonzalez was a standout: she scored a run while going 2-for-3. The dominant performance also gave her a new career-high in RBI (three). Another player making a difference was Kylie Guzman, who scored two runs while going 3-for-4.
Meanwhile, there's no place like home for Arlington, who bounced back after a loss on the road two weeks ago. They walked away with a 6-1 victory over Moreno Valley on Tuesday. The Lions haven't had any issues with the Vikings recently, as the game was their fourth consecutive win against them.
Like Ramona, Arlington also got a great game from a two-way player: Itzel Hernandez. She looked comfortable on the mound, not allowing a single earned run and allowed only one hit while striking out 15 over seven innings pitched. Hernandez has been consistent : she hasn't given up more than two walks any time she's pitched this season. She was also big at the plate, going 2-for-3 with one home run, two RBI, and one double.
In other batting news, Mia Cortez was excellent, scoring a run while going 1-for-3. Natalie Puentes also deserves some recognition as she hit her first triple of the season.
Arlington hit smart and finished the game with only two strikeouts. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Moreno Valley struck out 14 times.
Arlington now has a winning record of 3-2. As for Ramona, the victory got them back to even at 4-4.
Ramona skirted past Arlington 5-4 in their previous meeting back in March of 2024. The rematch might be a little tougher for Ramona since the team won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
