Klahowya is 9-1 against Vashon Island since April of 2019 and they'll have a chance to extend that dominance on Wednesday. Klahowya will square off against Vashon Island at 4:00 p.m. Klahowya will be strutting in after a victory while Vashon Island will be coming in after a defeat.
Klahowya made up a huge gap compared to their last game against Bremerton, but they still couldn't quite topple them. Klahowya blew past Bremerton 16-4 on Tuesday. The high-flying hitting performance was a huge turnaround for the Eagles considering their one-run performance the game before.
Bailey O'Brien made a big impact while hitting and pitching. She looked comfortable on the mound, striking out six batters over five innings while giving up just two earned (and two unearned) runs off five hits. O'Brien was also big at the plate, going 3-for-4 with three runs, one triple, and two RBI. Those RBI were her first of the season.
In other batting news, Klahowya let Brooklyn Hart and Mckenna Sullivan run wild. Hart went a perfect 4-for-4 with one home run, four runs, and five RBI, while Sullivan went 3-for-4 with four runs, five RBI, and one triple. Those RBI marked the first that Hart brought in this season. The team also got some help courtesy of Shyanne Kilmer, who went 3-for-4 with two stolen bases and three RBI.
Klahowya was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .500. The last time their batting average was this high was back in March of 2024.
Meanwhile, Vashon Island was not able to break out of their rough patch on Saturday as the team picked up their fourth straight loss. They lost 21-1 to South Whidbey. The contest marked the Pirates' lowest-scoring match so far this season.
Vashon Island's defeat dropped their record down to 1-4. As for Klahowya, they moved to 2-5 with that win, which also ended their five-game losing streak.
Everything went Klahowya's way against Vashon Island when the teams last played back in May of 2024, as Klahowya made off with an 18-6 victory. Will Klahowya repeat their success, or does Vashon Island has a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
