Inland Valley recap Oct. 9, 2012
Arlington extended the longest winning streak in Inland Valley this week by beating Poly, 27-3. The win marks fourth in a row for the the Lions.
Valley View moved up to 390 from 432 in the state rankings this week, the biggest jump in the league. The Eagles were able to make the jump by beating Vista del Lago 41-6.
The Bears' dynamic duo of Tarique Lusk and Luke Navigato proved tough for Arlington to stop, as they were the top passer and receiver in the league this week. Lusk threw for 20 yards and Navigato had 12 yards receiving. Matt Ybarra helped Poly's passing attack out by catching one ball for eight yards.
Godfrey Freeman was the most productive running back in the league this week. He ran for 147 yards on 28 carries as the Ravens lost to Pat Mccarthy's team. Terell Lee also contributed to the rushing game with 30 yards on the ground.
6-foot-2 quarterback Joseph Garcia of JW North is the league leader in passing yards this season with 620. He has also thrown five touchdowns. On the ground, Vista del Lago's Freeman has rushed for 1017 yards which leads the league. The leading receiver in the league this season is Matt Murray. The Poly star has 13 catches for 337 yards.
A big matchup in the league this week will be when Valley View takes on the Huskies. Jack Fogarty's team is currently in fourth, while JW North is in third.
