The Ad Fontes Academy Falcons will look to defend their home court on Friday against the Virginia Academy Patriots at 5:30 p.m. Ad Fontes Academy is out to stop a seven-game streak of losses at home.
Last Friday, Ad Fontes Academy ended up a good deal behind Chelsea Academy and lost 57-38. The loss unfortunately continues a disappointing trend for Ad Fontes Academy in their matchups with Chelsea Academy: they've now lost three in a row.
Meanwhile, Virginia Academy pushed their score all the way to 57 on Wednesday, but even that wasn't enough to win. They took a 65-57 hit to the loss column at the hands of Benedictine. While losing is never fun, Virginia Academy can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Virginia basketball rankings (they are ranked 173rd, while Benedictine is ranked 28th).
Even though the team lost, they still had their share of impressive performances. One of the most dominant came from Surafel Muluneh, who scored 17 points. That's the first time this season that he scored 15 or more points. Another player making a difference was Rondel Jones Jr., who scored seven points along with seven assists and four steals.
Ad Fontes Academy's loss dropped their record down to 1-6. As for Virginia Academy, their defeat dropped their record down to 4-16.
Ad Fontes Academy was able to grind out a solid victory over Virginia Academy in their previous meeting back in February of 2017, winning 72-62. Will Ad Fontes Academy repeat their success, or does Virginia Academy have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
