The Holyoke Purple Knights and the East Longmeadow Spartans squared off in some playoff action on Thursday, but sadly the Holyoke Purple Knights had to settle for second. Holyoke took a 28-21 hit to the loss column at the hands of East Longmeadow. Holyoke has not had much luck with East Longmeadow recently, as the team's come up short the last three times they've met.
Holyoke's defeat shouldn't obscure the performances of Marty Phillips, who threw for 202 yards and two touchdowns, and Zeph Williams who gained 119 total yards.
Holyoke's loss dropped their record down to 2-8. As for East Longmeadow, the victory (which was their third in a row) raised their record to 4-6.
Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Holyoke will have plenty of time to ponder what went wrong as they've got a bye scheduled next week. After, they'll take on South Hadley at 10:00 a.m. on November 23rd. East Longmeadow will have some time to savor their victory since their next game is a little ways off: they'll take on Longmeadow at 10:00 a.m. on November 23rd.
