The Pleasant Grove Eagles will head out on the road to challenge the Lincoln Trojans at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Lincoln took a loss in their last matchup and will be looking to turn the tables on Pleasant Grove, who comes in off a win.
Pleasant Grove is headed in fresh off scoring the most points they have all season. They breezed past Cosumnes Oaks to the tune of 70-27 on Friday. With that victory, the Eagles brought their scoring average up to 50.2 points per game.
Pleasant Grove relied on the efforts of Kate Myers, who went 7-for-12 en route to 23 points along with six assists and four steals, and Lily Scarbrough, who dropped a double-double with 18 points and 12 boards. The dominant performance also gave Scarbrough a new career-high in blocks (two). Another player making a difference was Anniyah Banks, who posted eight points.
They weren't the only ones working in the assist department: Pleasant Grove was working as a unit and finished the game with 17 assists. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Cosumnes Oaks only racked up five assists.
Meanwhile, Lincoln suffered their biggest defeat since January 18, 2024 on Thursday. They came up short against St. Mary's, falling 59-37. Perhaps unsurprisingly, the Trojans' biggest loss of the season was also their lowest-scoring.
Pleasant Grove will need to focus on slowing down Lailah Leonard-Roberts, one of several Lincoln players who made an impact when they last played. She scored 14 points and five rebounds. Monet Dunham was another key player, putting up five points in addition to eight boards and three steals.
Pleasant Grove pushed their record up to 18-8 with the win, which was their third straight at home. Those victories came thanks in part to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 59.3 points over those games. As for Lincoln, their loss was their first in the league, dropping their league record down to 9-1 and their overall record down to 20-7.
Rebounding is likely to be a big factor in this contest: Pleasant Grove has been crashing the boards this season, having averaged 36.8 rebounds per game. However, it's not like Lincoln struggles in that department as they've been averaging 24.7 boards.
