Even though the Hurricane Tigers scored an imposing 64 points on Wednesday, the Crimson Cliffs Mustangs still came out on top. Crimson Cliffs walked away with a 76-64 win over Hurricane. Given Crimson Cliffs' advantage in MaxPreps' Utah basketball rankings (they are ranked 29th, while Hurricane is ranked 85th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Sean Felts was his usual excellent self, scoring 39 points along with six rebounds and four blocks. As a matter of fact, that's the most points he has scored all season. Another player making a difference was McKay Lindquist, who scored 13 points along with five assists and three steals.
Hurricane's loss came despite strong showings from Quinn Gubler and Rj Hurst. Gubler scored 19 points, while Hurst scored 17 points. Calan Hughes was another key contributor, scoring nine points along with 12 rebounds.
Crimson Cliffs now has a winning record of 8-7. As for Hurricane, they are on a four-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 5-10.
Crimson Cliffs will be playing at home against Pine View at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Hopefully Pine View focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up ten on Wednesday. As for Hurricane, they will head out on the road to square off against Snow Canyon at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. The timing is sure in Snow Canyon's favor as the team sits on five straight wins at home while Hurricane has been banged up by 15 consecutive losses on the road.
