Andrew Cooper and Craig Gares provided fans with a highlight when they connected against Summit. The connection went for 70 yards, the longest such play in Mid-State 38 - Raritan this season.
The Hilltoppers extended the longest winning streak in the league this week by beating Delaware Valley, 35-21. The win marks eighth in a row for the Summit.
The Terriers' offense was tough to stop this week, as it produced the league's top passer, rusher and receiver. Cooper threw for 97 and one touchdown and Gares had 70 yards receiving. On the ground Dionisio Roman chipped in 209 yards. Chris Pilone helped Delaware Valley's passing attack out by catching one ball for 10 yards.
Reggie Green provided a threat through the air and on the ground as Cranford topped Johnson. He completed six passes for 76 yards and one touchdown and also ran for 161 yards. Green's favorite target this week was John Oblachinski, who caught five passes for 64 yards.
Abraham Clark's Tyrone Crutchfield and James Womble have formed a dynamic duo this season, leading the league in both passing and receiving yards. Crutchfield has thrown for 766 yards this season, while Womble, a 6-foot-3 receiver, has 20 catches for 368 yards. Roman from Delaware Valley leads the league in rushing with 1268 yards.
Two of the top units in Mid-State 38 - Raritan will face off this week when Mike Columbo's team takes on the Crusaders. The Terriers' offense has racked up 233 points this season, earning them the top spot in the league, while Johnson has allowed only 102 on the year.
A big matchup in the league this week will be when the Cougars take on North Plainfield. At the moment, Cranford is in second, while the Canucks are in fifth.
The top two defenses in the league will face off this season when Delaware Valley takes on Mike Mancino's team. The Terriers have allowed 108 points this season, while the Crusaders have given up 102. Delaware Valley allowed 35 points last week as it fell to the Hilltoppers.
North Plainfield took down Governor Livingston 44-13 last week, the largest margin of any game.
