Hughson came tearing into Friday's match with nine straight wins (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 10.9 runs), and they left with even more momentum. Everything went their way against the Sonora Wildcats as they made off with a 15-2 win. The Huskies might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won nine contests by six runs or more this season.

Benji Ocegueda made a splash no matter where he played. On the mound, he didn't allow a single earned run while striking out 12 over five innings pitched. Those 12 strikeouts gave him a new career-high. He was also stellar in the batter's box, scoring a run while going 2-for-4.

In other batting news, Beau Blake was a standout: he got on base in three of his four plate appearances with one home run, three runs, and two RBI. Lawson Aviles was another key player, going 2-for-3 with two runs, one triple, and one double.

Hughson always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .583. That was just more of the same: they've now posted an OBP of .516 or higher in five consecutive games.

Hughson's victory was their ninth straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 16-2. Those road wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 2.4 runs on average over those games. As for Sonora, they are on a four-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 2-13.

Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Hughson will host More at 4:00 p.m. on Monday. The two teams have allowed few runs on average (the Huskies 2.5, the Knights 3.4) so any runs scored will be well earned. As for Sonora, they will be playing in front of their home fans against Hilmar at 6:00 p.m. on Wednesday. The Wildcats' pitchers better be ready for this one: the Yellowjackets have averaged an impressive 8.5 runs per game this season.
