Softball Recap: Monday's Win Is Prince George's Sixth in Last Eight Outings

Prince George barely beat Colonial Heights the last time the pair played, but that sure wasn't the case this time around. The Royals blew past the Colonials 14-7 on Monday. The Royals might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won ten matchups by seven runs or more this season.

Payton Finney made a big impact no matter where she played. She tossed 2.2 innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit. She has been nothing but reliable on the mound: she hasn't given up more than one earned run in six consecutive appearances. She was also stellar in the batter's box, going 3-for-5 with one home run, two runs, and one triple.

In other batting news, Kaylee Moody and Abbie Sars did most of the damage at the plate: Moody went 3-for-4 with three runs, one stolen base, and one RBI, while Sars went 2-for-4 with two runs, one triple, and one double. Those three runs gave Moody a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Kaitlyn Hacker, who went 2-for-5 with two stolen bases, one run, and one RBI.

Prince George is on a roll lately: they've won six of their last eight contests. That's provided a nice bump to their 12-5 record this season. Those victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 11.5 runs over those games. As for Colonial Heights, their loss was their fifth straight at home, which dropped their record down to 8-9.

Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Prince George will host Matoaca at 5:00 p.m. on Tuesday. The Warriors will roll in looking for their fourth straight win, something the Royals surely won't give up without a fight. As for Colonial Heights, they will welcome Petersburg at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. The Colonials are facing the Crimson Wave at the right time seeing as the Crimson Wave are stuck on a 12-game losing streak.
