Montpelier is 0-5 against Fairview since April of 2019 but things could change on Tuesday. The Locomotives will head out to square off against the Apaches at 5:00 p.m. Montpelier is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 9.2 runs per game this season.
Montpelier was handed a heart-breaking two-run loss in their last match, but they sure didn't let that happen against Hicksville on Friday. The Locomotives blew past the Aces 13-6. The result was nothing new for the Locomotives, who have now won nine contests by six runs or more so far this season.
Wesley Hartsock made a big impact while hitting and pitching. He struck out seven batters over five innings while giving up three earned (and two unearned) runs off six hits. He has been consistent recently: he hasn't tossed less than five strikeouts in four consecutive appearances. He was also solid in the batter's box, getting on base in three of his six plate appearances with three runs and one stolen base.
In other batting news, Hayden Sharps and Kenneth Smeltzer did most of the damage at the plate: Sharps got on base in four of his five plate appearances with two runs, one stolen base, and one RBI, while Smeltzer got on base in three of his five plate appearances with one stolen base, two RBI, and one run.
