Brandon Valley extended the longest winning streak in Eastern South Dakota this week by beating Riggs, 42-27. The win marks eighth in a row for the the Lynx.
Brookings was able to crack the Top 25 in the state rankings this week after losing to Lincoln. The Bobcats came in at 25 in the state poll after placing at number 28 last week.
Mitchell/Mitchell Christian's offense was tough to stop this week, as it produced the league's top passer, rusher and receiver. Matt Larson threw for 74 yards and Ethan Jones had 49 yards receiving. On the ground Larson chipped in 54 yards. Landon Neugebauer helped Mitchell/Mitchell Christian's passing attack out by catching one ball for 12 yards.
Brookings' offense has been unstoppable this season and the Bobcats feature the season leaders in passing, rushing and receiving yards. Kaleb Vig has thrown for 878 yards and nine touchdowns this season, while Zach Page has 36 catches for 314 yards. Mikey Daniel leads the league in rushing with 700 yards.
The marquee game in the league this week will be the clash between Brandon Valley and Yankton. Chad Garrow's team enters the contest ranked sixth in the state, while the Bucks/Gazelles ranks 11th.
Two of the top units in Eastern South Dakota will face off this week when Yankton takes on the Lynx. Arlin Likness' team's offense has recorded 183 points this season, making them No. 1 in the league, while Brandon Valley has permitted only 85 on the year.
The top two defenses in the league will face off this season when the Lynx take on the Bucks/Gazelles. Brandon Valley has allowed 85 points this season, while Yankton has given up 129. The Lynx allowed 27 points last week as they topped the Governors.
The Bucks/Gazelles took down the Kernels 40-0 last week, the largest margin of any game.
