Grace Schaefer made a big impact while hitting and pitching. On the mound, she struck out 12 batters over six innings while giving up four earned (and two unearned) runs off only one hit. Those 12 strikeouts gave her a new career-high. She was also big at the plate, going 2-for-4 with three runs and one triple.
In other batting news, Hailey Ogneiwski was incredible, going 2-for-4 with three runs and four RBI. Those four RBI gave her a new career-high. Paige Bujno was another key player, going 2-for-4 with one stolen base, one run, and one RBI.
Saratoga Central Catholic was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .452. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Stillwater only posted a batting average of .160.
Meanwhile, Mechanicville lost a heartbreaker to Tamarac when they met back in April of 2024, and they left with a heavy heart again on Monday. The Red Raiders came up short against the Bengals, falling 8-2. The Red Raiders haven't had much luck with the Bengals recently, as the team has come up short the last eight times they've met.
The victory made it two in a row for Saratoga Central Catholic and bumps their season record up to 6-1. Those wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 12.0 runs over those games. As for Mechanicville, their loss dropped their record down to 3-2.
