Two teams were on the hunt for playoff glory, but only Riverside walked away with it. They sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with a 58-56 win over the L.C. Bird Skyhawks on Tuesday. The victory was familiar territory for the Ram, who have now won 20 matches in a row.
Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Riverside to victory, but perhaps none more so than Joell Basue, who went 7-for-9 on his way to 14 points and eight boards. The dominant performance also gave Basue a new career-high in blocks (two). Another player making a difference was Josh Ntiamoah, who posted nine points in addition to eight rebounds and five assists.
Riverside's win was their 21st straight at home dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 27-1. As for L.C. Bird, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 20-6.
Looking ahead, Riverside will face off against Albemarle at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Riverside knows how to get points on the board -- the team has finished with 55 points or more in their past 20 contests -- so hopefully Albemarle likes a good challenge. L.C.
