Routt Catholic has gone 8-2 against Calhoun recently and they'll look to pad the win column further on Tuesday. The Rockets will square off against the Warriors at 4:30 p.m. Routt Catholic is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 6.5 runs per game this season.
Routt Catholic barely beat West Central co-op [Winchester-Bluffs] the last time the pair played, but that sure wasn't the case this time around. The Rockets put the hurt on the Cougars with a sharp 13-4 win on Monday. The Rockets haven't had any issues with the Cougars recently, as the game was their sixth consecutive victory against them.

Routt Catholic got a great performance from Brock Runyon as he struck out 11 batters over five innings while giving up three earned runs off eight hits. Those 11 strikeouts gave Runyon a new career-high.
On the hitting side, Jacob Brown and Eli Olson did most of the damage at the plate: Brown went 1-for-3 with one stolen base, one run, and one RBI, while Olson went 1-for-3 with two runs, one stolen base, and two RBI. Olson has become a key player for Routt Catholic: the team is undefeated when he posts at least two runs, but 8-11 otherwise. The team also got some help courtesy of Talon Thompson, who got on base in three of his five plate appearances with two runs.
Meanwhile, Calhoun came up short against West Central co-op [Winchester-Bluffs] on Tuesday, falling 13-1.
Calhoun saw two different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Cooper Klocke, who went 1-for-2 with one double.
Routt Catholic's win bumped their record up to 17-11. As for Calhoun, their defeat dropped their record down to 16-5.
Tuesday's contest will be a test for both teams' pitchers. Routt Catholic hasn't had any issues making contact this season, having earned a batting average of .329. However, it's not like Calhoun struggles in that department as they've averaged .316. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.
Routt Catholic couldn't quite finish off Calhoun when the teams last played back in April and fell 6-4. Can the Rockets avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
